Description

Naima the Warrior Princess

They said that she possessed the spirit of a demon. They also said she could fight like a Tiger. That she could kill as ruthlessly as a hungry cannibal lurching onto its prey. That she was a monster and a blood sucking vampire and had to be stopped at any cost.

But what they never mentioned or didn’t even know for that matter was that she had a heart of a Lion, that she would rather die cold blooded then hurt the young and the innocent. She was the keeper of the truth, the messenger of humanity, the arsenal of faith and they often called her ‘Naima’.

The Story goes like this…

Once upon a time, many moons back, there was a kingdom. As usual, the king was weak and could not look after its citizens. The rich became richer and the poor poorer. The king was soon dethroned and his position was substituted by his evil tyrant sorcerer “Lucifer”. His heart was as black as coal and he followed a humble notion of killing the poor for the benefit and entertainment of the rich. He plundered villages, looted the innocent, killed the civilians and destroyed many a farm. It seemed that there was no stopping to the massacres and the earth was bleeding out of its womb.

Just when it felt like the end of a great era, she was standing there on the gates of his destiny, “Naima, the daughter of the local tribesman from one of the villages in the kingdom declared the rebellion against the devilish wizard. She swore to kill “Lucifer” to avenge the death of his countrymen.

But to kill the great magician, “Naima” has to travel all the way to the Andes; where lies a great secret hidden and covered for billions of years. The local myth states that a mighty SWORD powerful enough to wipe out even Ares’ army is stuck in between the rocks of the great mountain range. The sword can only be pulled out by its rightful owner, a brave heart who sides the truth, fights the evil and saves the poor. In these testing times, “Naima” fights her way through all the odds to make sure that mankind see’s another beautiful day.

sorry for the looong story :|

Nice, layered image. I like the composition and the mood that comes from the colours, allthough I miss some greens for accents. The face of the woman isn't very strong, too much detail there I think. The bear-creature looks rather flat due to the lack of color contrast.

hey shyam-buddy...

wonderful warm colors and mood you've created...also really enjoy the angle of the distant mountains and the atmospheric perspective...very well done.

The overall composition bothers me, however. It almost seems like two distinct scenes in one. I think the towering rocks on the right side take away some of the impact of the fightng figures. I also think the positioning of the various elements are too evenly spaced, perhaps some more overlap....just my thoughts buddy, keep up the amazing work! :)

Your painting style really reminds me of Josh Kirby, but in a good way! Excellent stuff! :)

Did you make that story, or is it a known story?

The characters are excellent, both in design and anatomy (you added the blue to her armour ). The gloss on the sword's handle is very nice, and your fading of colours to show depth is great. (thumbup)

But the flying creature's fur is painted very very smooth, so it doesn't really fit in with the rest. Besides, making the fur look wilder and more untidy would emphasize its savage nature (which I suppose it has). And maybe some of those blue tones you used on the rocks would make it look better.

For the rest: Great stuff!

Hey Shyam, well composed, although i too agree with deankuhta, that it looks 2 scenes in one ! The coloring & the background is awesome !

yep perhaps two works in one but lovely warm colours. But how is it there is still stains of blood on the stone creature where the sword is stucked, after such a long time?!? (just my cartesian mind speaking ;)) You thought it would symbolize a kinda sort of dramatic issue with the snake on the sword, IMO that it's a bit "too much" :

Intense work! She almost seems to be defying gravity; nice detail of the sword in the foreground, too. :)
